Vickie Lynn Worthen, née Moyers, a beloved member of the Potosi community, passed away peacefully at her home on July 9, 2026. Born on October 24, 1949, in Ironton, Missouri, Vickie’s journey touched many lives and created cherished memories for all who were fortunate enough to know her.

On October 23, 1971, Vickie married Thomas “Tom” Worthen. Together, they shared 54 years, 8 months, and 16 days, steadfastly supporting one another through life’s every blessing and challenge. Vickie and Tom’s enduring love and companionship were foundational, celebrated with the countless adventures and travels they embarked on together. Their journeys took them across the United States—including Hawaii and Alaska—as well as to Mexico and Bahamas creating stories and experiences that enriched their lives. A highlight in their travels was their shared enjoyment of music and friendship, as they frequently attended concerts of their good friend Andy Griggs, never missing an opportunity to see his concerts over thirty times.

A proud and devoted mother and grandmother, Vickie is survived by her husband, Tom; her son, Robert Worthen and his wife Melissa; and her four beloved granddaughters, Josie (Dylan Pinkston), Bailee, Reganne, and Willow. “MaMa” delighted in every moment she spent with them and with her three great granddaughters, Sophia, Penelope and Esme, finding endless pride and happiness in their company. Her nurturing spirit and patient heart made her a guiding and constant presence in their lives.

Professionally, Vickie was known for her unwavering dedication and compassion. She worked for many years at the Washington County Hospital and, from 1981 until her retirement in 2015, served the Washington County Ambulance District as a paramedic supervisor, a role she held with great pride. Through her service, she provided comfort, skill, and dependability to those in need, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and community alike. Many of her patients knew her as “One Stick Vick”. Early in her life she obtained her cosmetology license, working with others and owning her own shop for a while. Also, Vickie’s life was enriched by enjoying and engaging others, as a consultant for Home Interiors & Gifts, with parties throughout the surrounding communities and at her in-home display room.

Vickie’s joyful approach to life was evident in her hobbies and passions. Vibrant and colorful, she found beauty in all things purple, butterflies, and the serenity of her gardens. Her love of animals was clear in her special bond with her cat, Muffy. Vickie relished the excitement and camaraderie of playing bingo and slot machines, the creative fulfillment of sewing and embroidery, and the thrill of travel. As a child she cherished the many hours spent with her dad hunting and fishing, moments of connection and tradition that she held dear.

Vickie’s life was mostly blessed by many relatives and friends. Among her surviving loved ones are her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a close circle of dear friends, each grateful for the warmth and cheer she brought into their lives.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ruby and Kenneth Moyers, her sister Janet Phares, and her brother Rick Moyers. While she has left this world, the memory of her kindness, humor, and steadfast dedication will forever remain with those who knew and loved her. 

Arrangements are being handled by Moore Funeral Homes Potosi, MO where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday, July 17, 2026 and from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2026. Funeral services will be at St. James Catholic Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2026. Interment will be at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia, MO.
