Thelma Jean (Wright) Knupp was born on October 19, 1938, in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, a daughter to the late Sarah Belle Wright, and Harold Wright. Thelma passed away on August 29, 2026, having reached the age of 87 years.

Having only gone to school until 7th grade, Thelma was a fast learner and could master any task just by reading about it. She was a proud owner of a 12-foot quilting machine. She had an eye for precision and details and made approximately 195 quilts over 20 years in addition to upholstery work on furniture.

Very loving and dedicated to her family, Thelma will be remembered most for the care she gave to those she loved. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandkids, and her proudest accomplishment was being a loving mother and grandmother. Her life was centered on the people closest to her, and the memories she created with them will remain a lasting gift.

On June 8, 1955, Thelma was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Knupp. Together they shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. During those years, they happily raised their children and created countless memories that will continue to be treasured by their family.

She is survived by her children, Belle Vester and Ted, Rick Knupp and his wife Cindy, and Kenneth Knupp. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Wright, and brother Brad Wright and his Wife Wilma. Her love also lives on in her grandchildren, Kris Knupp and Autum, Brittney Phelps and Cody, Tori Yost and Jaiden, Sherry Donovan, John Rupp as well as in her great-grandchildren, Logan Knupp, Brayton Jarvis, Avery Knupp, Kayson Knupp, Isabell Woolard, Olivia Woolard, Bennett and Brinley Rupp in addition to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Thelma’s family was the joy of her life, and those who knew her will remember the warmth, devotion, and affection she shared so freely with each of them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Knupp; her parents, Sarah Wright and Harold Wright; her brother, Kenneth “Bill” Wright; her granddaughter, Courtney Yost; and her daughter-in-law, Yolanda Knupp.

Thelma will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to share her life.
