Paul "Fuzzy" Politte

Paul Politte, also known to all as "Fuzzy", passed away on May 10, 2023, at the age of 87 in DeSoto, Missouri. Paul’s passing has left a huge void in our community. He lived a full life surrounded by family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Born on October 2, 1935, in Cadet, Missouri to Fannie and Marvin Politte, Paul was one of ten siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Norma Payton, Lavern Thouvenot, Joan Wilson and brothers Richard Politte, Gene Politte and Jerry Politte.

Paul was a member of the St.Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Hazelwood for 57 years and then moved to DeSoto in 2021 and became a member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was a charter member of the Washington County Knights of Columbus in Old Mines. He transferred to Our Lady of Fatima KC for 50 years in Hazelwood before moving to Desoto in 2021 and transferring to St. Rose of Lima KC. He attended the White House retreat for 56 years.

Paul was married to the love of his life Wilma “Pat” Politte. Together they raised their three children: Paula Jean Thomson and husband Rich, Frances “Frankie” Ann Hanna and husband Tom, and Jeffrey Gerard Politte. Paul cherished his grandchildren: Malachi, Meghan, Emily and Kate. His great-grandchildren Maddy, Brody, Bailey, Alex, Natalie, Wyatt, Gemma, Sadie and Emmett made him smile from ear to ear.

Paul served the auto industry before his retirement in 1998. Working as a Parts Counter man for Behlmann GMC. Paul loved going to Coon Holler, riding around in his Jeep, playing in the creek, catching crawdads with the kids and cooking breakfast over an open fire. He made the best breakfast and loved searching for morel mushrooms, paw paw’s, persimmons, pears, buckeyes and much more.  He loved to whittle. You could find him in the back yard with a pile of wood chips at his feet and in his lap. He made beautiful walking sticks, center pieces and wall art. Every grandchild and great grandchild had a homemade Easter basket.

Paul also had a passion for car shows and entering his 1931 original Chevy Independence. He loved talking to the other car owners because they shared the same passion he did. When you went with him, he was in his element. You could see the joy on his face when he talked about old cars. Traveling brought him great joy and loved the scenic natures of Colorado, Alaska, and many more. He loved seeing new places, always on the lookout for a car show or walking stick material.

He had a great love for his family and friends. He had a special gift to make you feel special. His love for family was shown when his brother Richard needed a kidney and Paul did not have second thoughts to see if he was a match, he was and on May 15, 1975 Paul donated his kidney to his brother. He loved his wife, and they shared a special bond, so close they completed each other’s thoughts. He never met a stranger and could get along with anyone. He would do anything for his friends and family as we believe they would for him.
