Orville Scott Portell, known affectionately as Scott, was born on April 14, 1962, in Potosi, Missouri. He departed this life on November 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love.
Scott was a man who cherished the moments spent with his family. His warmth and jovial spirit were mirrored in his love for laughter, finding joy in sharing experiences with those he held dear. Alongside his vibrant personality, Scott had a passion for various hobbies that included playing golf, poker, and enjoying the comfort of his favorite TV shows, such as Friends and The Simpsons. His love for the great outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for hunting and spending time in nature.
He is survived by his beloved life partner, April Bone, son, Kelly Eckhoff, and wife Alyssa from Farmington, MO, two devoted sisters, Cheryl Warden and her husband Bernard from Mineral Point, MO, and Sarah Portell from Potosi, MO, niece, Lilly Missey, and his cherished grandchildren, Brinkley Eckhoff, Gattlin Eckhoff, and Charlie Kate Eckhoff, serve as a testament to the love he instilled in those around him.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, June (Bouse) Portell and Orville Portell, as well as his stepmother, Edna (Dedear) Portell. Their memories continue to live on through the lives of those he touched.
Scott is loved and remembered as “Best Brother, Best Partner, Best Dad, Best Grandpa and Best Friend.
Scott's legacy of laughter, love, and devotion to family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
