JOHN "J.P." O'HANLON OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN APRIL 12, 1915, IN POTOSI, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE PATRICK AND ELIZABETH (ADAMS) O'HANLON. J.P. DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT ST. MARY'S HEALTH CENTER ON MARCH 30, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE EIGHTY-FOUR YEARS, ELEVEN MONTHS AND EIGHTEEN DAYS.
J.P. WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MARGARET MARTIN OF JULY 18, 1953, IN POTOSI, MISSOURI.
J.P. IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, MARGARET O'HANLON OF POTOSI, TWO SONS, THOMAS ALLEN O'HANLON AND WIFE JAN OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, JOHN AUSTIN O'HANLON AND WIFE RENEE OF POTOSI, TWO DAUGHTERS, PATRICIA ANN RAMSEY AND HUSBAND LESTER OF POTOSI, MARY ELIZABETH WOLSEY OF FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS, NINE GRANDCHILDREN, ELEVEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, ONE BROTHER, ROBERT K. O'HANLON OF DESLOGE, ONE SISTER, ANNA BELLE BRAY OF OAK HARBOR, WASHINGTON AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FIRST WIFE, IDA MARIE (COOK) O'HANLON AND BY ONE BROTHER, THOMAS O'HANLON.
J.P. WORKED FOR ARKANSAS MISSOURI POWER COMPANY IN THE POTOSI OFFICE FOR 31 YEARS AND HE AND THE CREW WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING THE LINES AND POLES THAT BRINGS ELECTRIC TO MANY HOMES IN OUR AREA. HE ENJOYED HIS JOB AND REMEMBERED IN GREAT DETAIL THE PEOPLE HE MET.
ANYONE THAT KNEW J.P. WOULD TELL YOU THAT HE WAS A CHARACTER AND HIS MANY JOKES, STORIES AND ANECDOTES WERE ENJOYED BY PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER. THE FISHING STORIES WERE MANY AND THE FISH ALWAYS SEEMED TO GET JUST A LITTLE BIGGER AND MORE PLENTIFUL AT EACH TELLING.
J.P. WAS A KIND, DEDICATED, LOYAL AND LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, BROTHER AND A CHERISHED FRIEND WHO WILL BE SADLY MISSED AND LOVINGLY REMEMBERED.
VISITATION WAS HELD SATURDAY, APRIL 1, 2000, FROM 2:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED SUNDAY, APRIL 2, 2000, AT 1:00 P.M. AT THE CHAPEL WITH BROTHER TIM BREWER AND REVEREND BOB BULLOCK OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN REDBUD MEMORIAL GARDENS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, JOE WOOLSEY, DENNIS WOOLSEY, TRACEY HAHN, MARTIN OHRENBERG, MARTIN EVANS, JACKIE PRICE, ED HORNSEY AND SCOTT MARTIN.
