Michelle Ann Tweedie

July 23, 1974 — June 10, 2025

Michelle “Shelly” Ann Tweedie — a beloved Mother, Wife, Daughter, Grandmother, and Friend. Her kind heart, gentle soul, and unwavering faith left a mark on everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. Shelly passed away on June 10th, 2025, at the young age of 50, surrounded by the love of her family. Though she left this world too soon, the legacy of her compassion, strength, and love will live on in all of us.

Shelly was born on July 23rd, 1974, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Patrick and Geraldine Foster, now Geraldine Sullivan. She shared her early years with her older brother, Jason, and from the beginning, her family lovingly called her Shelly. They lived in Grandview, Missouri, until 1980, when they moved to Bolivar. Shelly’s childhood was full of joy — playing outside with friends, caring for animals, and making memories that would shape the generous woman she would become.

One of Shelly’s favorite childhood activities was playing Little League baseball. She famously thought her role was to wait patiently through four pitches and take her base — until one day a pitcher actually threw strikes, and she was surprised when she didn’t get to walk! That sweet story captures her charm and sense of humor — two qualities she carried with her throughout her life.

At the age of 15, Shelly experienced a life-changing moment of faith. During a church revival, she stepped outside for a moment and found herself alone in the parking lot — just her and Jesus. It was there that she found salvation, and from that moment on, her relationship with God was the foundation of her life. She remained a devoted Christian, teaching children’s church and even aspiring to become a youth pastor. Her faith wasn’t just something she spoke about — She lived it with Love, Grace, and Sincerity.

In November of 1992, while living in Federal Way, Washington, Shelly embraced her most treasured role: motherhood. She welcomed her first son, Preston Earl, followed by Joseph Thomas in 1996 while living in Harlingen, Texas, and then her only daughter, Jacqueline Rose, in 1999 after returning to Bolivar. She poured her heart into raising her children which were her world. She even ran an in-home daycare so she could be close to her kids during their early years. Her love, patience, and strength shaped her children into who they are today.

Shelly was in a car accident and developed severe migraine headaches. She went to a young chiropractor that was new to town. After he showed her the x-rays and gave her a report of findings, she replied, "Well, can you fix it?" In which he replied, "Well, I'm going to try." Fast forward about a year, and Shell found herself single again. One night while hanging out with her sister-in-law at the time, she was asked what she thought about Dr. Tweedie. She replied, "He's a good chiropractor." "No, he's single and so are you." The two were reintroduced on a social level, and the love story of Shelly and John began. They were married in May 2005 and opened Tweedie Chiropractic that same year, beginning both a personal and professional journey side by side.

Shelly had gone back to school at OTC, studying accounting and marketing — applying her talents as the front office manager at their clinic and as the owner of Courtyard Pointe Properties. Her dedication to her work and family was truly unmatched.

But more than anything, Shelly cherished being a grandmother. That was her greatest joy. In May 2016, her heart grew even fuller with the arrival of her first grandchild, Mia. Shelly would hold her close and read to her every day — so often, in fact, that Mia lovingly called her “Book.” Shelly’s love story as a grandma had only just begun. Jacqueline and her husband Erik gave her two more precious grandchildren: Isla, born in May 2020, and Rafe, born in February 2022. Then in April 2023, Preston and his fiancée Savannah welcomed Tucker into the world. Each time one of her grandchildren entered the room, her face lit up with pure joy. She never missed a chance to babysit, cuddle, sing, or read to them. Her home became a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love — a safe haven her grandchildren cherished deeply. Those visits weren’t just special to her — they were everything.

Shelly lived a life full of grace, strength, laughter, and love. She gave endlessly to those around her, whether through her family, her church, her work, or her community. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her Mother and Father, husband John, her children Preston, Joseph, and Jacqueline, her grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.

Though we grieve her loss, we celebrate her life — a life that showed us how to love deeper, live faithfully, and cherish the simple joys. Rest peacefully, Shelly. You were, and always will be, deeply loved.
