Mary Ann Sitzes, born on November 22, 1933, in Lakeland, Florida, passed away on August 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, creativity, and deep familial love. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, whose presence touched the lives of all who knew her.

Mary Ann’s life was marked by a warm devotion to her family. She is survived by her children, James Sitzes and Karen Boyce and husband Leon, daughter-in-law, Angeles Sitzes; and beloved sister, Boots Shalhoub. They remain to cherish the many memories and the special bonds they shared throughout a lifetime. Mary Ann’s devotion extended to her grandchildren—Aric and wife Wendy, Leana and husband Steve, Kyle and wife Jenn—who were continual sources of pride and joy in her life. Her great-grandchildren, Kaliegh, Aubrey, Oliver, and Campbell, were blessed to experience her gentle spirit and loving embrace.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae Lumpkin and Wilburn Moon, stepfather, James B. Lumpkin, her husband, Mason Sitzes and son, Richard Sitzes. Their memories live on through the stories Mary Ann recounted and the strong family values she nurtured.

Mary Ann’s creativity was evident in every aspect of her life. She found joy in sewing, painting, and creating beautiful dolls, as well as giving new life to furniture through her skillful upholstery work. Reading was a cherished pastime, and her passion for playing Bridge provided her with lasting friendships and joyful family moments.

A woman of deep faith, Mary Ann loved attending Bible studies, drawing comfort and inspiration from her favorite verses, Psalm 23 and John 3:16. Her spiritual life nourished her caring, kind nature and guided her actions as she reached out to help others.

Above all, Mary Ann considered her greatest accomplishment to be her role as a loving mother and grandmother. Her creative, loving, kind, and caring personality left a lasting impression on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, shaping their lives with her wisdom, warmth, and unconditional support.

Mary Ann’s legacy will continue through her family, her creative works, and all those who had the good fortune to share in her kindness. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation for Mary Ann was held Thursday, August 13th from 3PM-6PM at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi with the funeral service taking place at 6PM with Rev. Jerry Compton officiating.
