Linda Nell Beck

March 9, 1939 — January 29, 2024

Linda Nell Beck

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Linda Nell Beck, 84, of Potosi, Missouri. Linda left us during the early hours of January 29th 2024 with family close by and in the peace and comfort of her own bed.  Linda (born Linda Nell Ezell) was introduced to the world on March 9th, 1939 in Piggott, Arkansas. Her parents were John Delbert and Nellie June (Kutchin) Ezell who brought 13 children into the world but unfortunately lost 2 far too early in their young lives. Linda leaves behind her 3 children: Michael, Pamela and Steven as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Linda was a vibrant and hard working woman starting early in her life. She had a strong desire to learn and better herself despite having a difficult start and few resources to draw from. In her time she held many positions. She was a mother, a wife, both student and educator, business professional and all around people person. It was one of her greatest strengths and enduring qualities that stayed with her until the end. She was deeply loved by her family and returned to the love to her family, friends and working relationships.

The building blocks of life were being assembled early on in her life. She met and married the love of her life, Doyle while still very young at a local burger joint where she was employed. Her husband-to-be saw her and sought her out on the nights she was working and asked her out. Thankfully he was successful and the courtship began. Things moved fairly fast as marriage was to follow a couple of years later and children shortly thereafter.

In her early family life Linda was a mother first, but her desire to work was strong. She was a supervisor and educator in the field of early childhood development and also an owner/operator at a women’s clothing shop in Potosi.  She continued that line of work when the family moved back to St. Louis where she worked as Fashion Coordinator at Famous Barr. But that wasn’t enough.  She then continued her education, taking classes and getting certified as a real estate agent in later years. Her skills with people and knowledge of her work led her to be very successful.

Her energy was legendary. If you knew Linda you knew that she was an absolute force in the world. She would help anyone she could, advise anyone that needed it and never judge. She would also not hold back if she needed to be direct as some situations call for it, but it was always backed by love. Her dedication was steadfast and her love of humanity showed in all her encounters.
