Joseph "Bird" Butler, a hardworking and caring individual, passed away on November 9, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories in the hearts of his loved ones. Born on December 13, 1948, in Richwoods, Missouri, Bird lived a life filled with dedication to his family and service to his country.

Bird proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1973. Throughout his military career, he demonstrated tremendous bravery and commitment, which resulted in him being awarded the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. His selfless service exemplified his love for his country and his willingness to protect and defend those he held dear.

Outside of his military service, Bird had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes as it allowed him to disconnect from the daily grind and connect with the tranquility of nature. However, nothing brought him greater joy than spending quality time with his beloved family. Their bond was unbreakable, and Bird's loving presence will be sorely missed.

Bird's passing is mourned by many. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Butler; mother, Alice (Rulo) Butler; brothers Donald Butler and Francis Butler; sister Mary Ann Messex.

Bird leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be treasured by those closest to him: surviving sister, Christine Stewart; brothers Robert Butler and wife Hazel; James "Bones" Butler and wife Norma; Carl Butler and wife Brenda.

During this time of grief, let us come together to support one another and find solace in the memories we shared with Bird. May his kind soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that he will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, dedication, and the way he touched our lives.
