It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jerry Lee Sansegraw of Potosi, Missouri. Jerry was born October 19, 1946, and passed away July 30, 2026, at the age of 79 years.

Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Luris; his children, David (Bridgette), Doug (Leslie), Lena (Brett), Dawn (Dewey), John; grandchildren, David Wayne (Jill), Nicholas, Nick, Noah, Matias, Micah, Isaiah, Tristan, Isabella, Zachary, Kayelee; great-grandchildren, Rilee, Addison; great-great-grandchild, Kylan; sister, Kay Randall; brother, Dale Sansegraw; and numerous other family members and friends. He will also be dearly missed by his friends at the Mine Au Breton Historical Society and Sayer’s Senior Center.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Juels Sansegraw and Mildred (Cresswell) Sansegraw; his brother-in-law, Cody Randall; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Sansegraw.

Throughout his life, Jerry embodied kindness, love, and strength. These qualities did not have an on-and-off switch. They were an inherent part of his character. When first diagnosed with cancer, Jerry said, “I am not going to sit in the corner and suck my thumb. I’ll do what needs to be done.” Rather than wallow in self-pity, he faced his diagnosis with the same quiet resilience that had carried him through every challenge in life. Jerry’s work ethic was beyond reproach. He worked for Chrysler for 34 years. In everything he did, he gave 100 percent, and it was always for his family, friends, and community. He was a talented woodworker, handyman and historian. Jerry served as President of the Mine Au Breton Historical Society for over 20 years. He loved to share his knowledge of history with others. On countless occasions he led tour groups and spoke at local events. His homemade bread became a favorite at the Moses Austin Heritage Festival and still is. Jerry served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and was a proud member of the American Legion. Jerry’s calm demeanor put everyone at ease. He rarely let life’s troubles shake him. Instead, he placed them in God’s hands and would often say, “Why worry? It doesn’t do you any good.” His family and friends will hear those words in his voice for years to come. He possessed a gentle spirit and a generous heart. Jerry never sought recognition for his good deeds. He was a modest man with a selfless soul. His family meant the world to him. He believed in showing others respect even if he did not agree with them. Everyone who knew Jerry thought the world of him. Time and again, people described him simply as “one great guy.” It was a blessing to know him, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A Visitation / Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 1st from 3PM-8PM and Sunday, August 2nd from 10AM-1PM at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2nd at 1PM at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Interment will be at New Masonic Cemetery in Potosi.
