     James "Tang" Johnson, a hardworking and caring individual, passed on December 18, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love. He was born on December 5, 1939, in Potosi, Missouri, a son to the late Dimple (Koontz) Johnson and Louis Henry Johnson. In addition to his parents, Tang was preceded in death by his son, James Justin Johnson, brothers, Lewis Johnson, Roderick Johnson and sister, Pat Johnson.  

     From a young age, Tang showed his commitment to excellence. He excelled both academically and athletically throughout his life. After graduating from high school, he attended college in California on a baseball scholarship. It was during this time that he developed a deep love for the sport that would stay with him for the rest of his life.

     In 1962, Tang's unwavering sense of duty led him to serve his country in the United States Army. He bravely served from 1962 to 1968 and proudly carried the title of a veteran until his last breath.

     Following his military service, Tang became an esteemed member of Local 110 Laborers International Union of North America. His dedication to his work was evident in every project he undertook. He approached each task with passion and precision, making him an invaluable member of his profession.

     Beyond his career achievements, Tang had an incredible zest for life. He enjoyed all sports and was particularly fond of Baseball. He played in the minor leagues as a left handed pitcher for the Edmonton Eskimos, Calgary Buffalos and other teams. He consumed any knowledge he could about sports and read countless newspapers and sports magazines. Above all else, Tang cherished spending time with his family. Their bond was unbreakable, and these moments brought him immeasurable joy.

     Tang's surviving family mourns his loss while celebrating the remarkable man he was. He is survived by his beloved wife Jill Johnson and their two daughters: Vicky Jackaman and her husband Wayne of Jordan River B.C., Canada, as well as Jessica Johnson of Potosi, Missouri; grandchildren, Emma Banner of Victoria, B.C., Canada, Erik Jackaman and wife Lauren of Calgary, Canada, great-grandchild, Levi Jackaman. His extended family includes his sister, Parsetta Alexander and husband Tommy of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Wilford Johnson and wife Margaret Potosi, Missouri and mother-in-law, Mary Ann Parker of Farmington, Missouri.

     Tang Johnson was a remarkable human being who touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever remain in our hearts as a shining example of dedication, love, and unwavering integrity.
