Harvey Van McGuire was born August 3, 1949, in Potosi, Missouri, a son to the late John and Naomi (Boyd) McGuire. Harvey passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026 having reached the age of 76 years.
Growing up amidst a large and loving family, Harvey shared a special bond with his siblings that would shape the warmth and kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. He is survived by his sisters Pauline Douthit, Glenda McGuire, and Helen Blanks and her husband Raymond, as well as his children Gabrielle (Rodney) McCroan-Bohannon and Temia McGuire, grandchildren, Monet, Misha, Taylor, Briana, Rodney Jr., Ryann, Kennedi in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He is reunited in rest with his siblings Ophelia Penny, Mary McGuire, John McGuire, Anthony “Tony” McGuire, James McGuire, and Rhonda Walton, along with his beloved daughter, Nelacherie McGuire.
To those who knew Harvey, he will be remembered as a devoted father, brother, and friend. His heart belonged to his family; he delighted in spending time with them and found great joy in their company. Harvey’s love of sports, particularly football, brought him great pleasure, providing not only entertainment but often a subject for lively conversation with those around him. Alongside sports, he found amusement in playing the Lottery, enjoying the small joys and hopeful anticipation it brought to his days.
Harvey’s loyal, generous nature and commitment to his loved ones were hallmarks of his character. He embodied what it meant to be a loving family man, cherishing simple moments and always making time for those he held dear.
Harvey lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his devotion to family and his kindness leaving an indelible mark on the community he called home.
Arrangements are being handled by Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, MO where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 25, 2026. Funeral services will be at Moore Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 25, 2026. Interment will be at Trinity Cemetery, Potosi, MO.
