Gerald Paul Carlyon

    Gerald Paul Carlyon, a hard worker and beloved member of the community, passed away on August 23, 2023. He was born on August 9, 1938, in Mineral Point, Missouri. A son to the late Paul Preston Carlyon, Sr. and May Amelia (Bergmann) Carlyon. Gerald was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Rynearson) Carlyon in December 22, 1962. 

    Gerald had a fulfilling career as the owner and operator of ABC Auto Parks in Park Hills, Carlyon Auto Parts, and C&R Automotive. His dedication to his work was evident as he provided exceptional service to the community throughout his career.

    In addition to his professional achievements, Gerald also cherished his hobbies and interests. He found great joy in farming, stock cars, fishing, and spending quality time with his family. These activities allowed him to unwind and create lasting memories with those he loved.

    Gerald's friendly and caring nature endeared him to everyone he encountered. He was known for his fun-loving spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Gerald was often sought after for his valuable advice.

    Gerald served his country with honor and pride as a member of the United States Army. His military service further exemplified his commitment to serving others.

    Reflecting on Gerald's character and accomplishments brings to mind cherished memories of the dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather that he was. His legacy lives on through the love he shared with Wife Mary Ann Carlyon; Sons James Lee Carlyon and wife Traci and David Joseph Carlyon; Sisters Isabel Arndt and Nancy Weekley along with her husband Leon; Brothers Harold Carlyon along with his wife Judy; Charles Carlyon along with Wilma; Ralph Carlyon along with wife Linda; Paul Carlyon along with wife Diane; Steve Smith; Grandchildren Adam, Joshua (alongside wife Geri), Michael, Rebecca, Jaclyn (together with husband Ryan); as well as Great Grandchildren Hailey, Piper, Evan, Kent, and Wyatt.

    Gerald was preceded in death by his son Ronald Duane Carlyon. While his passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him, the memories of his kind and caring disposition will be cherished forever.

    Gerald will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, fun-loving nature, and the compassion he showed towards others. His remarkable impact on the community and his devotion to his family and friends will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
