SHELBY EUGENE BRAND
SHELBY EUGENE BRAND OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN APRIL 12, 1937, IN MINERAL POINT, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE LEO "COTTON" AND THELMA (GLORE) BRAND. SHELBY DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT DES PERES HOSPITAL ON JUNE 22, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SIXTY-THREE YEARS, TWO MONTHS AND TEN DAYS.
SHELBY WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO PEGGY J. DRENNEN ON APRIL 12, 1969 IN POTOSI, MISSOURI.
SHELBY IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE, PEGGY BRAND OF POTOSI, THREE SONS, RONNIE BRAND AND WIFE KATHY OF POTOSI, MARTY BRAND AND WIFE ANGIE OF POTOSI, TONY HARMON AND WIFE DIANEL OF RICHWOODS, THREE DAUGHTERS, VICKI BRAND OF MINERAL POINT, CHRIS CONWAY AND HUSBAND LINDELL OF POTOSI, SHELBA COLEMAN AND HUSBAND COREY OF MINERAL POINT, FOURTEEN GRANDCHILDREN, THREE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, ONE SISTER, SANDYE GAMBLE OF POTOSI AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE GRANDDAUGHTER, JAMIE BRAND AND ONE BROTHER, HARLAN BRAND.
SHELBY HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR BOTH FAMILY AND FRIENDS, HIS LOVE AND DEDICATION TO PEOPLE GUIDED HIM THROUGH AN EVENTFUL AND FULFILLING LIFE. SHELBY WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE FORMATION AND CHARTER OF THE MINERAL AREA RESCUE SQUAD WHERE HE HAD DEDICATED MANY HOURS OF TIME TO FURTHER HELP THE MINERAL AREA. SHELBY CONTINUED IN PUBLIC SERVICE BY SERVING IN THE POTOSI FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT FOR MANY YEARS AS A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER AND ENGINEER. HE HAD BEEN EMPLOYED BY THE ST. FRANCOIS AND WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENTS. SHELBY WAS A MEMBER OF THE FARMINGTON MASONIC LODGE.
SHELBY ENJOYED GOING PERCH FISHING AND HE WOULD NOT STOP FISHING UNTIL MANY WERE CAUGHT. SHELBY BRAND WILL LONG BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS LOVING HEART, OPEN EARS AND CARING THOUGHTS TO ALL.
VISITATION WAS HELD FRIDAY, JUNE 23, 2000, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED SATURDAY, JUNE 24, 3000, AT 2:00 P.M. AT THE MOORE CHAPEL WITH REVEREND CLAUDE EVANS OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN NEW DIGGINS CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOMES, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, ROBERT WORTHEN, KEVIN BRAND, ROSS GAMBLE, TIM GLORE, BRUNO GLORE, BILL GLORE, DENNY NICHOLS AND DENNY DALTON.
