Barbara Mae Aufner was born on October 6, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter to the late Billie (Hamilton) Aufner and John Jacob Aufner. Barbara passed away on July 18, 2026, having reached the age of 83 years. Barbara lived her life with warmth, kindness, and a strong creative spirit that would come to define her approach to life and her interactions with those around her.

Throughout her professional life, Barbara displayed dedication and diligence, working for Purcell Tire for many years. Her presence in the workplace was marked by the same caring and considerate attitude she brought to every relationship and endeavor.

Among Barbara's greatest joys was her family. She is survived by her children, Michael Jacobsen and his wife Joni, Steven Jacobsen and his wife Tiffany, sister, Johnel Casey, and beloved grandchildren: Sarah Loughary and husband Klayton, Jon Luke Jacobsen, Noah (Karissa) Jacobsen, Billie Marie Jacobsen, Isabelle Jacobsen, and Mia Jacobsen. Barbara also leaves behind her great-grandson, Jude Loughary. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Don Casey, whose memories live on, forever treasured.

Barbara’s heart found immense happiness in the company of her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Her artistic abilities were noteworthy; she possessed a remarkable talent for creating stained glass windows and devoted significant time to restoring many such pieces throughout the community. Her hands and vision brought light and beauty into countless spaces. Additionally, Barbara was actively involved in the Potosi Community Church, where she served as the director of children’s plays, thoughtfully crafting the backdrops for their performances. This blend of creativity, devotion, and nurturing set her apart as a role model and guide to the younger generations.

Those who knew Barbara will remember her as loving, artistic, and endlessly creative—a woman whose care and talents touched so many lives. Her commitment to her family and the local community was unwavering, and her warmth and imagination left an indelible mark and those she loved.
