JOHN B. AGNEW OF CADET, MISSOURI, WAS BORN APRIL 10, 1915, IN RACOLA CITY, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE JOHN AND MARGARET (PASHIA) AGNEW. JOHN DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT MARK TWAIN MANOR IN BRIDGETON ON JUNE 12, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY-FIVE YEARS TWO MONTHS AND TWO DAYS.
JOHN WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE ELLEN C. (DECLUE) AGNEW ON JUNE 7, 1939, IN OLD MINES, MISSOURI, AND TO THIS UNION FOURTEEN CHILDREN WERE BORN.
JOHN IS SURVIVED BY EIGHT SONS, JOHN B. AGNEW OF ARIZONA, WILLIAM AGNEW AND WIFE JOYCE OF STEPHENS CITY, VIRGINIA, TOM AGNEW AND WIFE NANCY OF ST. LOUIS, DAVID AGNEW AND WIFE JUDY OF ST. CHARLES, STEPHEN AGNEW AND PEGGY OF ST. CHARLES, DONALD AGNEW OF ST. LOUIS, DANIEL AGNEW AND WIFE KATHIE OF UPLAND, CALIFORNIA, PATRICK AGNEW AND WIFE BARBARA OF ST. LOUIS, THREE DAUGHTERS, BARBARA MEYER AND HUSBAND NORBERT OF ST. LOUIS, ANN DOMINY AND HUSBAND ROB OF ABILENE, TEXAS, MARY KAY FRIESE OF ST. CHARLES, TWENTY-FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, SIX GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, ONE SISTER, MARGARET GEBAUER AND HUSBAND FRED OF FULTON AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS AND SPOUSE HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY THREE SONS, JAMES, PAUL AND TIMOTHY AGNEW AND BY ONE GRANDDAUGHTER, NICOLE RAE AGNEW.
JOHN HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR HIS FAMILY AND ENJOYED THE MANY HOURS SPENT WITH EACH OF THEM. ONE OF HIS GREATEST LOVES WAS THE TIME HE WAS ALLOWED TO SPEND WORKING, A VALUE HE TAUGHT TO ALL OF HIS CHILDREN. HE ENJOYED RELAXING LISTENING TO MUSIC, READING AND EXPLORING THE WORLD THROUGH HISTORY.
VISITATION WAS HELD FRIDAY, JUNE 16, 2000, FROM 4:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
A FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED SATURDAY, JUNE 17, 2000, AT 10:00 A.M. AT ST. JOACHIM CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER TED PIEPER OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN ST. JOACHIM CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, JOHN AGNEW, BILL AGNEW, TOM AGNEW, DAVE AGNEW, STEVE AGNEW, DONALD AGNEW, DANNY AGNEW AND PATRICK AGNEW.
