Root, Mary B.

Mary B. (Glore) Root was born on October 2, 1940 in Frank Clay, Missouri to Norine B. (Goodnight) Glore and Lisborn J. Glore and passed into the arms of our Lord on January 6th, 2012 at her home in Oregon, Wisconsin.

Mary was united in marriage to Edwin S. Root Jr. on January 24, 1961 and this union was blessed with two children Sherri Lynn (Root) Foster and husband David Foster of Los Altos, CA and Edwin S. Root III and wife Tina Root of Oregon Wisconsin, and three grandchildren Tiffany and Larissa Root of Oregon, Wisconsin, and Elizabeth Foster of Los Altos, CA.

Mary is survived by her sister Glenda Adams of Jefferson City, Missouri, brother Perry Glore and sister-in-law Mary of St Louis, Missouri, sister-in-law Ruth Glore of Potosi Missouri, brothers-in-law Simon Root and his wife Barbara of Lyons, Kansas, Wesley Root of Greensboro, North Carolina and wife Brenda Root, Stanley Beck of Lufkin, Texas, 15 nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Lisborn and Norine Glore of Potosi, Missouri, sister Betty Becker and husband Raymond of St Louis, Missouri, brother Robert Glore and wife Lorene of Potosi, Missouri, brother Larry Glore of Potosi, Missouri, brother-in-law Albert “Bud” Adams of Dixon, Missouri, father and mother-in-law Edwin S. Root Sr. and Nellie Root of Radium, Kansas, sister-in-law Ada Beck of Lufkin, Texas.

Mary was a graduate of Potosi High School. She attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in St Louis and graduated with a B.S.N from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She attained a M.S. in Adult Education from the University of Wisconsin, Stout and a M.S. in Nursing from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She taught Nursing for many years at Madison Area Technical College in Madison Wisconsin.

Mary’s great love was her family. She was a devoted grandmother, sister, mother and aunt. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her immediate and extended family. Mary was a passionate gardener and always kept a lovely garden and worked to beautify the neighborhood parks. She enjoyed traveling and took trips to many places including England, Scotland, France, Canada, and throughout the United States. The scrapbooks that she made of these journeys are still enjoyed by her family.

Mary’s caring and generous spirit will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation and Funeral Service were held Tuesday, Jan 10, 2012 at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri with Brother Mike Jarvis officiating, the music chosen were: “How Great is our God” sung by Chase Glore. “I’ll Fly Away” sung by Gillan Welch. “In The Garden” sung by Londonderry Choir, and “In The Arms of an Angel” sung by Sara McLaughlin.

Burial was in the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Steve Adams, Jeff Adams, Jody Glore, Tanner Glore, Dakota Glore and Dillon Carl.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare 5385 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
