Douglass Leon Sparks

Douglass Leon Sparks of Arnold, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, August 30, 2019 at the St. Anthony’s Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of Eighty-one years, seven months and thirteen days. Douglass was born January 17, 1937 in Alton, Illinois, a son of the late Virginia (Davidson) Sparks and the late Harley Francis Sparks.
Douglass was united in marriage to Donna Marie Boyer Stymiest on May 17, 1996 in Arnold, Missouri.
Douglass is survived by his loving wife Donna Sparks of Arnold; one brother and his wife, Reggie and Gayle Sparks of Dorsey, Illinois and by many other dear and special relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Douglass was preceded in death by his stepson Keith Arron Stymiest and sister, Peggie Crastida.
Douglass was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 553, Illinois.
Douglass had a great love for his family and friends. He always enjoyed visiting, talking and sharing stories. He liked to cook his favorite recipes for Chili, Ham and Beans, or Pot Roast. He was always ready to get in his boat and go Crappie fishing or go to the lake with his brother and sister-in-law. He also loved talking farming with his cousins in Illinois. He would relax reading novels and the newspaper. Douglass was an avid sports fan and kept up on all the events.
